I clipped this news report but don’t recall where:

Even before COP, there were commitments from Ecuador’s president to extend the protected area around the Galapagos Islands by 60,000 km2 to reduce the impact of extensive fishing that occurs around the edges of the current protected area.

Further protection for an important migratory route for many species including tuna, hammerhead sharks and whales has been agreed by Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador and Panama.

This new area, named the ‘Eastern Tropical Marine Corridor’ will be a significant contribution to achieving the Global Ocean Alliance: 30by30 initiative to protect 30% of the world’s ocean by 2030. This came after Colombia’s president announced plans to increase marine protected areas by an enormous 16 million hectares in 2022.

If and when I get this book finished (nowhere near) and assuming I put it on Amazon in different locations – USA, UK, etc. – then when I write about it and want to direct potential purchasers to the right country depending on where they are visiting from – how do I send them to the right place?

A transducer is a device.

It converts energy from one form to another. Usually a transducer converts a signal in one form of energy to a signal in another. Transducers are often employed at the boundaries of automation, measurement, and control systems, where electrical signals are converted to and from other physical quantities – energy, force, torque, light, motion, position, etc.

There are two – the first one I found is Japan Camera Hunter. The author describes it this way

I came across the web site of Alex Kwa while reading the ‘what’s in my bag’ of a photographer who shoots with cheap film cameras.

Alex’s site has a ‘Start here’ menu tab that begins with this statement, which I think is correct from my own experience. But I am not obsessive, and have settled for ‘sufficiently good’ for many things. Here is Alex’s statement:

Agave amica, formerly Polianthes tuberosa, the tuberose, is a perennial plant in the family Asparagaceae, subfamily Agavoideae, extracts of which are used as a note in perfumery. Now widely grown as an ornamental plant, the species was originally native to Mexico.

The name comes from its swollen tubers, no surprise there.

The overwhelming fragrance of the tuberose has been distilled for use in perfumery since the 17th century, when the flower was first transported to Europe. Marie Antoinette had a perfume made from tuberose, orange blossom, sandalwood, jasmine, iris and cedar.

Beware of too much tuberose in a perfume – it can be sickly.
